Getting Traction

When you're first starting out at anything, it's hard to get noticed.  Every single day, more and more people try to make it on the internet.  There is increasingly more competition.  How does one get noticed?

If you're lucky and started many years ago, you probably didn't have to work hard.  There weren't that many people.  Now there are many things you have to do to get noticed.  I'm going to share a few easy tips to get you started.

1) Do something that you actually enjoy.  When random people start stopping by, they'll notice that you're having fun with whatever you're doing, and whether the content is good or bad, they might stick around.  Besides, if you're doing something you enjoy, then you shouldn't even care how successful you become.

2) If you're doing something that you feel confident about, share it.  You probably already have a Facebook and/or Twitter.  This is probably the easiest thing you could do for a couple extra views.

3) If you can get even a couple of people to view or share your content, then you're on the right track.  This is how viral videos occur.  These videos aren't just being found on YouTube.  They're watched on Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, etc.

4) When you make your content, make sure you use a lot of words that describe what it's about.  Let's say you make a YouTube video.  Make the title something appealing and something people will generally search for.  In the description, describe what the video is about.  Use a lot of phrases that describe the video.  Also make good tags.  All these things are very important.

These are probably some of the easiest things you can do to start up whatever your doing.  I hope this helps.
